Attendance

Children's attendance at school is intrinsically linked to how successful they will be. We appreciate that children are unwell from time to time, but ask that you think carefully about keeping children out of school. Absence is proven to have a significant negative impact upon a child's educational attainment.

We have a wide range of initiatives to reward those with good attendance, such as a class competition, individual attendance improvement rewards, house points, certificates and 100% attendance recognition. In the class competition, classes can earn extra play time for getting 100% attendance in a week.

Take a look at how absence from school can have a negative impact on your child's learning.

As a school, we now use Studybugs, which is a more efficient and secure system for reporting your child's absence from school due to illness. If you have not already, please get the free app, or register on the Studybugs website at https://studybugs.com/signin to let us know whenever your child is ill and unable to attend school.

Parents/carers are asked to contact the school on the first day of absence by 9:15 am to provide a reason for the absence. Parents/carers are also requested to contact the school on each subsequent day of absence on Studybugs or by calling on 01268 734420. Please see our attendance policy for more information.

Please see this useful guidance about different childhood illnesses and advice on whether your child should be going to school or seeking medical attention.
