Hedingham Castle

The children in year 3 and 4 had a fantastic day at Hedingham Castle yesterday as part of their topic on the Normans. They spent the day with 2 historians who knew lots about the history of the castle and the Normans. The children found it fascinating that the toilet was just a hole in the ground and that the poo went down a chute through the castle to a pit at the bottom. There was then a man who came to collect the poo and sold it to others to use as fertiliser!
